AKMG Emirates  

AKMG EMIRATES is the Association of Medical and Dental Graduates of Kerala origin, practising in the UAE. This 5 year old organization was officially launched in December 2003, along the lines of the AKMG USA. Since then, AKMG Emirates has grown in leaps and bounds, to a membership of more than 800, spread all over the UAE. The association has 7 very active Chapters - Abudhabi, Al Ain, Ajman & UAQ, Dubai, East Coast, Ras Al Khaimah and Sharjah, each working in harmony, under an elected Central Working Committee.

The Main Activities of AKMG Emirates

Continuing Medical Education Program

The AKMG Emirates, through its many Chapters, regularly conducts accredited CME programmes, for the benefit of the medical community. The centrally coordinated, well organized and superbly conducted CMEs have already brought acclaim to AKMG Emirates and its Chapters, from the Authorities and other professionals. These programmes are accredited by professional bodies like the MOH, UAE University, Alain and RAKMSHU, Ras Al Khaimah. They provide a lion's share of the CME credits mandatory for renewal of professional licences and also provide a platform for members to share their knowledge and professional expertise with fellow members.

Social Security Scheme

A unique SOCIAL SECURITY SCHEME has been launched by AKMG Emirates. The Scheme is intended to help and protect members and families at times of crisis. It is an excellent Life Insurance, where you do not lose the premium, it is Capital Guaranteed Investment and you also get Retirement Benefit, along with the chance to help colleagues and families in distress. It has also proved that it is flexible and adaptable to the changing needs of the member community, by incorporating the Diya Money facility. It is the most economical among similar schemes, with immediate payouts in claims, without the standard exclusions.

Humanitarian Activities

The 7 Chapters of AKMG Emirates also conduct various free health awareness, disease detection and medical camps, in addition to other health-based humanitarian activities like blood donation and free medical services to the needy. During the Tsunami disaster, AKMG Emirates, then a fledgling association, rose to the occasion and built 2 pucca houses for the affected in Kerala. Every year AKMG Emirates prints and distributes, through the Indian Consulate Dubai, thousands of posters and flyers on preventing Heat Exhaustion and Heat Stroke among the labourers.

Insurance Schemes

A group Professional Indemnity Insurance scheme has been already set up, which, members of the AKMG Emirates can avail of, at a 40% discounted rate. A group Health Insurance for the members and their families is also being set up by mid April, 2009.

Family Get-together

The chapters and AKMG Emirates regularly conduct family get-togethers, where the members can meet, mingle and interact in an atmosphere of relaxation and camaraderie. Variety entertainments, party games and sports activities are organized to encourage the artistic and athletic talents of members, spouses and children.

AKMG Directory

The AKMG Directory, containing the professional and personal data of all members, along with their contact details has become an integral part of the members' lives. It is a table top, ready reference tool, which helps clinicians to refer needy patients to the best specialists promptly, adding a personal touch. The year and college of graduation helps us locate our classmates and college-mates.

Bi-Annual Conventions

AKMG Emirates conducts Bi-Annual Conventions involving its 7 Chapters and invites guests from around the world. Members and families from all over the UAE, come together for a full day of festivities, and cultural & social interaction. The Inter-Emirate Talent Competition forms the highlight of this gathering, where the Rolling Trophy is passionately fought for by the chapters and members.
